Benabbey Lodge is an exclusive Fly-In Hunting Lodge located on a beautiful 3 lake system surrounded by hills and valleys in the middle of fantastic moose & caribou country. As you can see the lodge is on a long sandy beach. Perfectly remote area free from locals & other hunters at the headwaters of Fishell's River. A hunters paradise, the area is also fantastic for a non-hunting guests to go hiking, boating, kayaking, photography, or trout fishing.
Steel Mountain Lodge started in 1966 with the purchase of the lodge & property located at the base of scenic Steel Mountain in Western Newfoundland - Canada. This is an area well known to Big Game Hunters and Atlantic Salmon Fishermen. Ben Alexander expanded Fly-In Hunting Excursions to Benabbey Lodge and was one of the first Members & President of the Newfoundland Labrador Outfitters Association (NLOA). He worked tirelessly with the association as an Outfitter for over 50 years, consulted with various interest groups, government, and local hunters to promote sustainability and enhance tourism potential for all of Newfoundland.

Benabbey Lodge is positioned on a beautiful long sandy beach at the headwaters of Fishell's River. Guests are flown into camp by Commercial Charter (Floatplane or Helicopter)
Our guests rave about the food. Eileen, a full-time cook will prepare wonderful home cooked meals, amazing desserts, and snacks for out on the hunt. More food photos in the Gallery.

Lodge is comfortable with 4-5 hunters per week. Guests enjoy the modern design, self-contained camp which is well insulated. Hunters have their bedroom area separate from staff.

Complete with generated electric lights, running hot/cold water, wood stove heating, propane cooking stove, interior washroom facility including hot shower.

Experience more than just a hunt, it's the trip of a lifetime. Guests may find opportunity for trout fishing, BBQ your fresh game, and an evening of guitar music at the campfire.

Hunters can challenge themselves to a more extreme adventure and get access to a prime Moose Hunting territory,
but this will be for the more active and able hunters who can hike the valley of Fischell's River, the ridge at
Grey Hill or the grasses of Wolf Brook with their Gude 1-1.

EASTERN CANADIAN MOOSE has an average antler size measuring 42 inches and stands 7 to 10 feet tall. Bulls will weigh 850 to 1,200 lbs, and females around 600 to 850 lbs. Moose numbers in Newfoundland have flourished since they were originally introduced here in 1878.
